Hi everyone!

As I recently informed, some info on language learning and study, among other areas, will be posted here from time to time. Today I leave the following for those who might be interesed in learning a language with the aid of a computer.

There is a learning resource currently implemented as an alternative for online language assisted by computers. This resource is named CALL, which stands for Computer-Assisted Language Learning, and happens to be among many other options for language learning through the use of computers and the internet. Next, you will find a list of some of possible advantages I have come up with based on several theories and concepts related with language and learning (communicative language, peer feedback, learner-autonomy, differences between spoken and written language, etc.).

CALL:

-Enhances (communicative) learning through interaction with real users of language.
-Allows for feedback and constructive analysis, offering possibilities of feedback coming from different people, under different perspectives.
-Makes delivery of information more concise and efficient, since information is, in many cases through CALL, shared in written language.

-Facilitates learning through technology to those who cannot take or do not prefer a formal mode of education.

-Allows for learner entered/controlled learning activities.

-Might help make learning more attractive due to the wide variety of resources at its disposition, such as games, simulations, etc.

-Possibly helps save time and resources (savings on electricity on school bills, reduced schedules = lower budget expense for scholar populations in need, etc.).

-Can help complete/supplement existing teaching modalities.

-Might help establish beneful linguistic/cultural exchanges among people who use it.

-Might serve to promote learner-autonomy and self-confidence.

I hope this is clear/understandable enough and therefore useful for anybody who reads it.

Regards!
